Oakwood's News

Wassup wassup? NGAPP Ep. 9 is out, check it out already! Unfortunately from now on it's gonna turn into a monthly podcast instead of a weekly one, but have no fear! It will still be awesome! :)

This podcast features some new gems! I'll list them here:

I've been reeeaaaally busy with college so I barely had any time to crack out any more gems, but after my test coming this Friday I'll be having some more spare time hopefully, so stay tuned and check out the Hidden Audio Gems Playlist as it is now. :)

In my last post I mentioned an electro track that would be released in about two weeks, and that promise still stands! It's a commission and I have a deadline for March 30, however that's just for the intro edit of the commission, the full track will most likely be released in the same week, so stay tuned!

Some other stuff:

Stay awesome!

First of all: just got my 150 fan! The lucky winner is @phosphorusprocedure, congratulations! You win a free download for all of my tracks!...oh wait...

Second, I totally forgot to mention that my Hidden Audio Gems playlist is now a main thing in the Newgrounds Audio Portal Podcast! The first 3 Gems were featured on NGAPP Ep. 6 so go check it out!

That said, some new Gems were added to the list! Three in fact, and they'll be featured in the next episode of the NGAPP which is probably uploaded in 24 hours. The submissions are:

That's about it! I'm currently working on a secret complextro track which will be uploaded here in hopefully the next two weeks and I might pop out another track inbetween, but fingers crossed! Make sure to check out the complete Hidden Audio Gems playlist and don't forget to like me on Facebook and follow me on SoundCloud!

Ciao!

The next episode of the Newgrounds Audio Portal Podcast is up, and it features an interview with me! Go check it out already! :D

Yes, the Podcast category in the Audio Portal is finally a thing! That said, make sure to check out the first four episodes of the official Newgrounds Audio Portal Podcast there!

Furthermore, my Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface came in today! Woot! Back to making some more tunes now!

Heejaa!

Not much to say actually, but I felt like saying something. First of all, I haven't had much time to review anything this week but I managed to still give some critics here and there, and I've added one song to the Hidden Audio Gems playlist!

  • Float On by @thetastate. It's superrelaxing and has a great atmosphere to it, be sure to check it out! This guy is also working on a EP which I will link to when it's released.

Also, I still can't quit talking about how well my 'Kensington - Streets' remix is doing on SoundCloud. It has reached the download limit a few days ago, got quite some shares and likes and almost 600 plays, which is quite a lot for me, especially since I did absolutely nothing to promote it :3

Lastly, I ordered a new piece of hardware! It's a USB audio interface, the Focusrite Scarlett Solo, and it's coming in on Tuesday. My list of hardware as of now looks as follows (*=dead):

  • Shure SRH440 headphones*
  • Roland Cakewalk A500 Pro MIDI keyboard
  • Sennheiser HD280 Pro headphones
  • Focusrite Scarlett Solo audio interface

That's all for now! Also, the podcast I'm planning to start won't be far away, so stay tuned! ;)

Hey y'all, my first track of 2015 finally is a fact! Here it is:

Oakwood - Alarma (Original Mix)

Here's some other stuff that's important to know:

  • My remix of 'Kensington - Streets' actually has one download left! After that it has reached 100 downloads. If that happens I'll probably upload it to Bandcamp so it can still be downloaded.
  • I've started a project that's supposed to help underrated artists: Hidden Audio Gems. It's a playlist I'm compiling, containing very good songs made by people that aren't well-known here on Newgrounds. Main goal is to make that playlist go around on Newgrounds so a lot of people will check it out.
  • Heard the second episode of the Newgrounds Audio Portal Podcast yet??

That's it! Don't forget to follow me on SoundCloud and like me on Facebook!

First things first, my remix of 'Kensington - Streets' is doing great on my SoundCloud! It has almost reach the download limit so if you want it click that link quickly! I'll probably be making a Youtube video for it shortly. :)

Second, checked out the Newgrounds Audio Portal Podcast yet? @YouriX created its own site for it now so it looks much more professional! Be sure to listen to it because it rocks!

Third, since @TomFulp started dedicating himself to users who pass underneath the radar, I figured that this year I will be doing the same thing for composers and producers. I've been a constructive reviewer for a long time now, checking out the 'Latest' section in the Audio Portal and scrolling through the Audio Advertisements thread every now and then to write some good and helpful reviews. This helps people get better, but not exactly to get noticed. When a song is uploaded, there's nothing that immediatly shows 'This guy has improved so much so you should definately check this shit out!'. You need to listen to the song before you can actually state that. And that's when the next obstacle comes in: how are you gonna tell everybody that the song is indeed awesome? Music appreciation threads are not allowed on the Audio Forum. So what do you do?

Well you could make a news post about it, right? That's the best solution, but not many people are going to see it if you don't have a lot of followers. Imagine, I dunno, @F-777, @Step or @FatKidWitAJetPak making a news post about your song being awesome, wouldn't that be super cool? Yeah it would, but it won't happen, simply because...well, you don't do it. Nodoby does. Heck, I need my own fans, I'm not gonna advertise for some other dumb kid.

Well screw it. I'm gonna advertise for other dumb kids. I've been thinking of this idea for a while now and I decided to launch it: the Hidden Audio Gems playlist. Only three songs so far, I know, but it's something and will become bigger. Of course, I don't have a lot of fans either so the exposure still isn't great (yet), but I'm really willing to let this thing catch on. I've had a link to it in my signature for a while now, that's the best I could do I guess, but I hope this idea will spread. For now these are songs that are in the playlist, I'll make a news post every now and then about which new ones I have added:

Again, I really hope that this playlist will one day be a major thing for underrated artists. Or at least be one of the more viewed playlists instead of those freaking Hentai shiznits.

LiquidOoze out.

P.S.: sorry for the tags, I really like tags @@@

What started out as a crazy idea about a week ago, actually came alive today: the Newgrounds Audio Portal Podcast has been born! The idea was coined by @YouriX and supported by a lot of users, so without any further ado, @Chozz was asked to mix the whole thing, I created an intro jingle and YouriX did the rest of the work. The result can be listened to here: Newgrounds Audio Portal Podcast Ep. 1

Of course it's still in construction fase, but this podcast is supposed to become a tool to promote unknown Newgrounds artists in a new and exciting way. And excited I am! Go listen to it! :)

Cheers!

Haven't really kept my promise since I haven't uploaded anything new on here yet, but it's coming! Instead I've been busy writing a lot of reviews, this year is all about supporting the unknown artists around here! :)

If you haven't checked it out yet, my Kygo-inspired remix of Kensington - Streets is doing pretty well on SoundCloud! It's a free download so go grab it!

Also, after two years I decided to become a Newgrounds supporter again!

That's all for now, cheers!

No? Well then you better not click the following link, because it links to my latest remix: Kensington - Streets (Oakwood 'Kaigoow' Remix)!

It's a really old project and today I decided to finish it! Why today? Because today my new headphones arrived! I really enjoyed creating something in this chill style, I might be doing it more often ;)

My first Newgrounds track of 2015 has yet to come, but fear not! It won't be long!
